Live recorded in the South of France, this is “BAHIA”, a new album by dutch roots outfit Homesick & The Louisiana Men.
With a leading role for the blues harmonica, this three-piece band finds its own way in the swamps of Louisiana-based repertoire. Dishing up blues, zydeco, texmex and even gospel music, these guys provide plenty of ingredients for an exciting night out. On top of this, the flavours of close harmony and spicy percussion make this album into a rare delight…
Being on the road since 1980, bandleader Hans de Vries spent a lot of his time in hotelrooms. That’s how he got his nickname ‘Homesick’. His band The Backstabbers* released three albums and toured intensively. In 1991, the very successful cajun & zydeco group Louisiana Radio* was formed. They released five albums and toured throughout Europe. During his career Homesick shared the stage with names like Johnny Winter, Robert Cray, Dr John, Oletta Adams and Los Lobos.
With his new band De Vries takes his audience all around Louisiana and the Mississippi Delta. This time with a more direct, more acoustic approach. Siegers, who is also a real fine leadsinger, recorded an album with Alan Toussaint in New Orleans in 1997. Ekkers completes this winning team of friends with the magic sound of his texas telecaster. Homesick & The Louisiana Men bring you a spicy gumbo of Swing-Blues, New Orleans grooves and cajun & zydeco music !
